it's true what they say

andrew and i went out on a date last friday night.  it consisted of free costa vida, a free movie (we bought a zoo... loved it), and then a $5 nielson's frozen custard. all in all we spent $5.67 on our amazing night out.  who says you have to spend a lot when you go out? :) (Just be nice enough to people so they give you gift cards...hee hee)

i was just thinking about something at my desk. you wanna hear what it is? alright... here it goes:

date nights are so important in a relationship (especially when we have been married for SOOO long like andrew and myself).  i don't think andrew and i have taken the time to go out on a "date" just the two of us for quite some time.

i came across this general conference talk by Russell M. Nelson titled "Nurturing Marriages". in it he brings up this great quote:

"Marriage brings greater possibilities for happiness than does any other human relationship. Yet some married couples fall short of their full potential. They let their romance become rusty, take each other for granted, allow other interests or clouds of neglect to obscure the vision of what their marriage really could be. Marriages would be happier if nurtured more carefully."

i feel that this quote is so true- that so many of us let our romance become rusty and we take each other for granted. it wasn't until we were sitting in the movie theater and andrew was over the top flirting with me, that i realized that he still makes me giddy! he still makes me smile and laugh and appreciate the man that i married.

i have always known how important it is to "date" your spouse, but i guess i get too caught up in my own business to really make it happen.  after this weekend, i have a new resolve to date my husband each week, every day, any moment i can get.  i want to continue to have those butterflies throughout our lives together.

here's to a good ol' fashioned date night!
